FRANKLIN, Tenn. (August 15, 2014) A tanker truck explosion and fire early Friday killed one person and shut down a portion of Interstate 65 in Franklin, Tenn.
The fuel tanker carrying unleaded gasoline hit an overpass at around 3:40 a.m. Friday.
The interstate and the overpass in the area will be closed for "the foreseeable future,” Franklin Police spokesman Charles Warner said.
Witnesses said they heard a large boom and then saw a fireball light up the sky.
It wasn't clear what caused the crash.
Authorities are investigating.
Detours were in place for travelers.
