RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (February 20, 2013)--A weekend homeowners association meeting at a seemingly genteel Palm Springs-area country club turned into an all-out brawl, as fists and even chairs flew between members.
Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Myling Bordeau said the rumble erupted because some members were unhappy with the winner in a board of directors election at The Springs Country Club in Rancho Mirage, a private golf and tennis club and gated community.
Bordeau said melee started at the meeting Sunday with yelling and pushing, but then escalated to tackling, punching and chair-throwing.
A club security guard pulled his gun from his holster, but kept it at its side.
Two people were taken to the hospital, one who complained of pain and another who had a seizure.
