BROADVIEW, Saskatchewan (August 10, 2012)--A collision between a Canadian Pacific freight train and a camper van left three children and a woman dead, and two others injured.
Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cpl. Rob King says the collision occurred Thursday evening at a crossing in Saskatchewan. Canadian that Pacific spokesman Kevin Hrysak says had no guardrails, lights or bells.
The 15-year-old boy who was driving the van suffered serious injuries.
King said it is legal in Saskatchewan for 15-year-olds to drive if they have learner's permits and an adult in the vehicle.
King says the names of the victims weren’t immediately available.
Hrysak said it doesn't appear that any train members were physically hurt, but "obviously this is extremely hard on them as well."
