DENVER (October 8, 2013)--Four small boys whom authorities removed from an apartment in Denver because of uninhabitable conditions were so malnourished and abused that they could only communicate in grunts.
The boys' parents were charged with multiple counts of abuse.
An affidavit says authorities found the children living in a home full of cat and human feces, urine, and flies.
The Denver Post says Wayne Sperling, 66, and Lorinda Bailey, 35, were been charged with four counts of felony child abuse.
The boys, ages 2, 4, 5 and 6, were not toilet trained and had no schooling of any kind.
The spoke in "their own language,” authorities said, using grunts to communicate with each other.
All four children were placed in protective care.
