LAKEWOOD, Colo. (November 9, 2012)--Police in the Denver suburb of Lakewood say an officer who was killed while investigating reports of gunfire may have been shot by another officer.
Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis says the officer was killed after police responded to a report early Friday of gunfire in a residential area.
Police located a home at which the shots were fired, and arrested three people.
Davis says the officer was shot after the three were in custody, but said it’s not clear by whom.
He said investigators are looking at other possibilities.
Davis said there was a lot of confusion when officers responded to the home near the boundary with the town of Edgewater.
