CHICAGO (July 7, 2013)—Shootings over the Fourth of July holiday weekend in Chicago left at least nine people dead and several dozen wounded, including two boys who were shot to death in different parks, authorities said.
A man in his late 40s died at a hospital after he was hi Saturday night in a flurry of gunfire that wounded six others.
A 25-year-old man was shot and killed earlier Saturday outside his home.
Police say the wounded included a 7-year-old boy who was shot on Thursday night and a 5-year-old boy shot who was shot early Friday morning in a different park.
Others killed in gun violence since Wednesday ranged in age from 20 to 36.
Authorities also said a 17-year-old man was shot and killed by Chicago police Thursday after he pointed a gun at officers.
