LAGRANGE, Ga. (February 9, 2013)--Five people died in a head-on crash in southwest Georgia, authorities said.
Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright said the two-vehicle crash happened at around 6:45 p.m. Friday near LaGrange, Ga., about 45 miles north of Columbus.
Two people were injured.
Wright said one person was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center and the other was taken to a hospital in Columbus.
The extent of their injuries was unclear Friday night.
Authorities have not released the names of anyone involved in the crash and the cause of the collision is under investigation.
