Head-On Crash On Florida Interstate Leaves 4 Dead

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (April 3, 2013)--Four people died early Wednesday in a head-on crash on Interstate 95 south of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The Florida Highway Patrol said officers were pursuing a sport utility vehicle whose driver was northbound in the interstate's southbound lanes.

The SUV crashed into a minivan at Hallandale Beach Boulevard, killing all four occupants.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with two broken legs.

Opa-locka police spokesman David Chiverton says officers had ended the pursuit before the SUV’s driver pulled onto the interstate.

The Broward Sheriff's Office says all southbound lanes of I-95 were shut down while an investigation continued.

The names of the victims weren’t immediately released.
