House Fire Leaves Man, 3 Children Dead

ORRINGTON, Maine (November 10, 2012)--Three children and a man died early Saturday in a house fire in a rural part of Orrington, Maine.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department said the mother of the children killed in the fire escaped and was taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

A fire official told the Bangor Daily News that the man who died is believed to be in his 30s, and the children ranged from 4 to 8 years old.

The identities of the victims have not been released.

McCausland says the home is in a rural part of the town of about 3,900 residents, which serves as a bedroom community to Bangor.

The state fire marshal's office is investigating.
