Little Girls Burned In House Fire Taken To Texas Burn Center

COVINGTON, La. (December 6, 2012)--Two young girls pulled from a burning home early Thursday in Covington, La., were taken to a burn center in Galveston.

Three other people, including two children made it out of the house uninjured, authorities said.

The fire broke out at around 1 a.m. Thursday.

Louisiana State Fire Marshal Butch Browning said a woman awoke to the smell of smoke and alerted neighbors, who helped her and two boys, 6 and 2, out of the home.

They were not injured.

Browning said two girls, 6 and 4, were still inside the house when the first fire crews arrived.

Firefighters broke a window and got the girls out.

Browning said one of the girls suffered burns to 70 percent of her body and other to 30 percent of her body.
