THIBODAUX, La. (September 5, 2013)—Jeremiah Wright, a Louisiana man who’s accused of beheading his disabled 7-year-old son, was out of a state mental hospital and in jail Thursday.
Defense attorney Kerry Cuccia said another sanity hearing for Jeremiah Wright will be scheduled during a Sept. 16 hearing.
Wright is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jori Lirette, who had little speech and required round-the-clock care.
Cuccia says doctors at the state mental hospital in Jackson think Wright of Thibodaux, La., is competent to stand trial for first-degree murder, but noted that they thought the same thing earlier, and Judge John LeBlanc disagreed.
District Attorney Cam Morvant did not immediately answer a request for comment.
