PROVIDENCE, R.I. (November 14, 2012)--A Rhode Island man was arrested after his neighbor was shot with a flare gun in an attempt to settle an argument about noise.
The flare set the victim’s jacket on fire.
Mark Hitchner was arrested after Joseph Motta, 59, was shot in the neck with the gun.
Hitchner, 49, told police he yelled at Motta about noise coming from his Providence apartment Monday evening.
Police say Motta told Hitchner to "bring it on" and followed him into his apartment where Hitchner pulled out the flare gun.
Motta declined medical treatment.
Hitchner was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
