LONDON (February 18, 2013)—A driver in Thailand was facing charges Monday after his pickup truck hit and killed a British couple on an around-the-world cycling journey, police said.

Peter Root and Mary Thompson were cycling last Wednesday on a road east of Bangkok when they were hit.

The couple had cycled through Europe, the Middle East, Central Asia and China, and had been posting photos and details of their trip on the website Two on Four Wheels.
