CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (January 23, 2013)--Officers arrested a man in northern Mexico who confessed to killing his neighbor's three dogs and barbecuing them, police spokesman Adrian Sanchez said.
The man was arrested late Tuesday based on an emergency call about a fight in the streets, Sanchez said.
Ulises Rodela, 39, was confronted by his neighbor about the dogs and told him that he had turned the animals over to animal control after finding them in the street, police said.
But the owner told police that animal control had no record of receiving the dogs.
Police said Rodela then confessed to barbecuing the dogs.
Officials were still trying to confirm Wednesday whether Rodela sold the meat.
The state Commission for Sanitary Risk Prevention said it would test various food stands for the presence of dog meat.
