MORRISTOWN, N.J. (July 23, 2014) A jury Wednesday in New Jersey returned a guilty verdict in the murder trial of a man accused of stabbing his ex-wife 84 times and then and covering her face with a pig mask.
The Morris County jury found Anthony Novellino, 66, guilty of murder after deliberating for about three hours over two days.
Prosecutors say Novellino attacked his ex-wife, Judith, in June 2010 at the couple’s home.
They had recently finalized their divorce, and Judith was packing items to take to her apartment when she was stabbed.
Judith Novellino was a high school English teacher.
The couple’s adult daughter found her body.
Anthony Novellino was arrested several days after the killing in Washington state, where he fled to meet a woman he had been communicating with online.
He faces a sentence of at least 30 years in prison.
Sentencing was scheduled for Sept. 12.
