MINEOLA, N.Y. (February 26, 2014) A suburban New York man was in custody Wednesday after a woman and a 15-year-old girl were held captive for months and forced to work as prostitutes, police said.
The 21-year-old woman was held for more than a year and the teen for about four months, Suffolk County police said.
Andy Gayot, 35, was arrested Tuesday at his home in Lindenhurst, N.Y.
He was facing arraignment Wednesday on prostitution, rape, unlawful imprisonment, weapons and drug charges.
Authorities refused to say anything about the condition or whereabouts of the women.
Police, probation officers and FBI agents went to the house because of a probation department warrant.
Authorities did not immediately say why the warrant had been obtained.
