LEWISVILLE, Ark. (January 7, 2013)—Stacy Sewell, 38, of Iberia, La., has died in a Texas hospital one week after he was shot in a hunting accident in southern Arkansas.
Miller County Coroner Eddie Hawkins said Sewell was pronounced dead Sunday night at a hospital in Texarkana.
The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said Sewell was shot in the neck on Dec. 29 with a .22-caliber magnum rifle while hunting with a group near Mays Lake in Lafayette County.
Runion says a 17-year-old was firing at a hog when he accidentally shot Sewell.
Runion called the shooting a "freak accident" and said authorities don't plan to charge or cite the teenager.
