AKRON, Ohio (November 20, 2012)—Douglas Wright of Indianapolis, the alleged ringleader of an unsuccessful plot to bomb a highway bridge in Ohio, was sentenced Tuesday to more than 11 years in prison.
Judge David Dowd in Akron ruled last week that the men should be sentenced as terrorists, making them subject to harsher prison terms.
Wright was sentenced to 138 months in prison.
He apologized in court to his family and the community, saying he was an addict and needed help for substance abuse, not just prison
Two other men, Brandon Baxter, 20, and Connor Stevens, 20, were scheduled for sentencing later Tuesday.
A fourth defendant will be sentenced Wednesday and a fifth is undergoing a psychiatric exam.
