DOVER, N.H. (August 14, 2014) Seth Mazzaglia, 31, a New Hampshire man who raped and killed a college student, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after the victim's family tearfully and angrily lamented what he took from them.
A judge handed down the maximum sentence to Mazzaglia Thursday for the Oct. 9, 2012, killing of Elizabeth "Lizzi" Marriott, 19, of Westborough, Mass.
In court, Mazzaglia denied raping and killing Marriott, but said he helped cover up her murder.
Mazzaglia was convicted in June of first-degree murder and other charges.
The key witness, Kathryn McDonough, testified that she lured Marriott to Mazzaglia's apartment as a sexual offering for her domineering boyfriend.
McDonough, who is also serving jail time, testified that Mazzaglia strangled Marriott after she twice rejected his sexual advances.
