LITTLE FALLS, Minn. (November 26, 2012)—Byron David Smith, 64, was charged Monday with two counts of second-degree murder in the shooting deaths of two teenagers he says broke into his home.

The complaint filed Monday quotes Smith telling investigators he shot Nicholas Brady, 17, and Haile Kifer, 18, as they entered his basement.

The complaint says Smith told investigators he fired "more shots than I needed to."

The Minnesota man told them he was afraid the teenagers might have a weapon.
