SOMERVILLE, Tenn. (October 22, 2013)--Two hospital workers died Tuesday when a medical helicopter en route to pick up a sick child crashed and burned in Tennessee.
A nurse and respiratory therapist were killed in the crash Tuesday, Meri Armour, the president and CEO of Le Bonheur Hospital, said.
There was no immediate word on the condition of the helicopter, which crashed after leaving Memphis on a flight to Bolivar.
The child was eventually taken by ground ambulance to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said in an e-mail that her agency and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
