Minister Indicted In Shooting That Left Wife Dead, Daughter Injured

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (August 16, 2013)—The Rev. Terry Greer, 54, has been indicted in a shooting at his family’s home in Gardendale, Ala., that left his wife dead and his teenage daughter wounded.

Greer was indicted for murder in the death of his wife, Lisa, 52, and attempted murder in the shooting of his daughter, Suzanna.

The indictments were released this week.

The shootings occurred Jan. 10 at the family's church-owned home in Gardendale.

Greer has pleaded not guilty.

Greer served as pastor of Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Jefferson County to which he transferred last year after spending eight years in Decatur, Ala.

Authorities say Greer tried to stab himself to death after the slaying.

Investigators say Suzanna got the gun away from her father and then ran to a neighbor's house for help.
