LAS VEGAS (April 3, 2013)--A 6-year-old girl died after her grandfather accidentally ran over and dragged her as she tried to get into his moving car in southwest Las Vegas, police said.
The girl was standing just behind the Dodge Magnum on Tuesday when her grandfather started driving away, police said.
The girl grabbed onto the vehicle and tried to get into it, but her 52-year-old grandfather didn't notice and the car dragged her about 40 feet until the man stopped.
The girl, Censere Mosly-Wedemyer, was taken to the University Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Police told KVVU-TV they're calling the death an accident.
They said it was the 35th traffic-related death this year in Las Vegas police jurisdiction.
