CASPER, Wyo. (December 2, 2012)—Mortally wounded by an arrow fired into his head, Casper Community College instructor James Krumm still managed to wrestle with his 25-year-old son who carried out the attack, giving students time to flee the classroom, police said.
Officials said the son earlier killed his father's girlfriend.
Casper police spokesman Justin Smith says authorities believe "around six" students were in the Casper College computer science class Friday morning when Christopher Krumm, 25, of Vernon, Conn., entered and attacked his father, the instructor.
Casper Police Chief Chris Walsh says Krumm had earlier stabbed his father's live-in girlfriend, Heidi Arnold, 42, at the couple's home about two miles away.
Krumm then went to the college and shot his father, James Krumm, 56, in the head with the high-powered bow and arrow before stabbing himself with a large knife.
Authorities said six students were in the classroom when the younger Krumm barged in armed with the bow and arrow and two knives.
