LAS VEGAS (January 21, 2013)--A Las Vegas police lieutenant and two family members were found dead Monday in what evidently was a double murder-suicide in Boulder City, Nev.
Clark County Sheriff Douglas Gillespie and other officials didn't identify the officer, pending confirmation from the Clark County coroner.
Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul said a man called 911 at around 8:20 a.m. Monday and told a dispatcher he had killed his wife and child, set his house afire and would shoot if anyone came close.
Paul says the man was in the doorway with a gun when police arrived, but went back inside.
He then evidently killed himself.
SWAT officers later found three bodies inside.
Clark County assessor records identify the homeowner as Hans Walters, a Las Vegas police lieutenant who's married to a former police officer.
