Police Officer Shoots Armed Man Inside Movie Theater

SAN DIEGO (January 13, 2013)--A San Diego police officer shot and critically injured an armed domestic violence suspect who ran into a movie theater.

Officer David Stafford said police were sent to Reading Cinemas Carmel Mountain 12 in response to the domestic violence call Saturday afternoon.

Stafford said the shooting occurred inside a theater at about 3:50 p.m.

The officer was not hurt.

A San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said the wounded man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

U-T San Diego reported that witnesses were evacuated from the theater.

Reports indicated a man with a gun chased the victim of the alleged domestic incident into the theater.
