WESTPORT, Conn. (January 15, 2014) A 23-year-old woman was arrested early Wednesday in Westport, Conn., after an officer caught her using a rock to try to smash open the front door of a pet store.
She told the officer she “wanted to set the puppies free.”
The officer, who was on patrol early Wednesday at a strip mall, spotted the woman running from the Puppies of Westport store, and caught her with rock still in her hand.
The officer noted there was fresh damage to the store's front door.
Police say when asked what she was doing, the woman said she "wanted to set the puppies free."
Anouk Govil, of Norwalk, Conn., was charged with third-degree criminal mischief.
She was released after posting $500 bond.
She’s due in court next Tuesday.
