LONDON (March 3, 2013)--Queen Elizabeth II, 86, was in the hospital Sunday after suffering from what appeared to be a stomach infection, Buckingham Palace said.
The palace said the British monarch experienced symptoms of gastroenteritis.
Her upcoming trip to Rome would be cancelled, the palace said.
In a statement released Sunday, the palace said that all official engagements for the coming week would be postponed or canceled "as a precaution."
