Railroads Stress Safety After Deaths Rise In 2013

OMAHA, Neb. (April 8, 2014) "See Tracks? Think Train" is the message railroads are trying to hammer home.

The push comes after the number of trespassing deaths on train tracks increased 11 percent last year and the number of deaths from accidents increased 8 percent.

In response, railroads have launched Operation Lifesaver, to highlight the dangers of being near train tracks.

The campaign's Joyce Rose says she thinks the increase might be a reflection of how distracted Americans can be because of smartphones and other electronic devices.
