STROUDSBURG, Pa. (January 7, 2013)--Jury selection started Monday in the trial of a retired Pennsylvania pastor charged with killing both of his wives.
He’s on trial for the death of his second wife.
Arthur "A.B." Schirmer, 64, is accused of killing Betty Jean Schirmer in 2008 and then staging a car accident to cover it up.
Jury selection was expected to take most of Monday.
Opening statements are expected Tuesday at the Monroe County Courthouse in Stroudsburg, Pa.
Schirmer also stands accused of killing his first wife, Jewel, in 1999.
A trial date hasn't been set in that case.
A grand jury ruled that Schirmer likely used blunt objects to kill the women.
The retired clergyman denies hurting either of his wives.
