PHILIPSBURG, Pa. (March 28, 2013)--A retired Pennsylvania State Police trooper killed his wife and then himself with shotgun inside a supermarket two days after she filed for divorce, authorities believe.
State police spokeswoman Maria Finn identified the slain woman as Traci Miscavish and said she filed for divorce from her husband, Mark Miscavish, two days ago.
He retired in 2011 after 15 years on the force.
Police say officers were sent Thursday morning to a County Market store in Philipsburg, Pa., where they found the two bodies.
Traci Miscavish's sister, Gina March, told reporters that Mark Miscavish was briefly jailed in January on charges that he beat up his wife.
Online court records indicate Mark Miscavish was awaiting trial on charges of simple assault, harassment and terroristic threats.
