REPUBLIC, Ohio (November 27, 2012)--An early morning house fire Tuesday in rural northwest Ohio killed five people.
Authorities in Seneca County, Ohio said they believe three children younger than 12 and two adults were in the house when the fire broke early Tuesday out near the village of Republic, about 50 miles southeast of Toledo.
The five bodies have been recovered.
A fire department spokesman said a truck driver spotted smoke coming from the house and called 911 just after 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters say the house was engulfed in flames when they arrived there.
The two-story house is fairly isolated, about a quarter-mile from the nearest home and surrounded by farm fields.
