Injuries were reported after the SUV crashed into the daycare Tuesday.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (July 30, 2013)—Three children and an adult were injured Tuesday when an SUV struck a parked Cadillac and both vehicles ended up crashing into a daycare facility east of downtown Kansas City, Mo., police said.
Forty children were in the daycare at the time and two of them ended up trapped beneath the Cadillac, authorities said.
Passersby rescued one of the children from under the vehicle and firefighters used air bags and the Jaws of Life to free the second, local media reported.
The two children who were rescued and a third child who was hurt along with the 80-year-old driver of the SUV were taken to a hospital.
All of the other children and adults at the facility have been accounted for.
Authorities at first said the Cadillac's driver fled after the accident, but later said the vehicle was empty when the SUV hit it.
The conditions of the injured weren't released, but one official earlier said the injuries didn’t appear to be life threatening.
The children who weren't injured were kept at a nearby house, until tearful parents arrived.
