PINE BLUFF, Ark. (September 8, 2013)--A 107-year-old man was shot to death after SWAT officers returned fire during a standoff at a home in Pine Bluff, Ark., police said.
Pine Bluff Lt. David Price said officers who were sent to the home Saturday were told the man, Monroe Isadore, had pointed a weapon at two people there.
The two who were threatened left the house and officers then approached a bedroom where Isadore was barricaded.
He fired a shot through the door at officers, but missed them, police said.
More officers were called, including the SWAT team, which inserted a camera into the room and confirmed that Isadore had a handgun.
Police say SWAT officers released gas into the room when negotiations failed and say Isadore again shot at officers.
This time they fired back, killing him, police said.
