School Where Children, Educators Killed To Be Closed Indefinitely

NEWTOWN, Conn. (December 17, 2012)--The Connecticut elementary school where a gunman shot 26 people to death will be closed indefinitely while the crime is investigated.

State police Lt. Paul Vance said Monday at a news conference that it could be months before police turn the school in Newtown, Conn., back over to the district.

Police say other schools in Newtown will reopen Tuesday.

The children who attended Sandy Hook Elementary School, where the shootings took place Friday, are expected to attend classes at a different school, but police say they won't be going back yet.

Adam Lanza, 20, shot 26 people to death Friday at Sandy Hook, including 20 children, and then killed himself.
