Search Continues In Wyoming Mountains For U.S. Senator’s Brother

PINEDALE, Wyo. (July 2, 2013)--Helicopters and ground crews were again searching Wyoming's Wind River Range Tuesday for the brother of U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo.

James "Randy" Udall, 61, failed to return from a solo backpacking trip last week.

Searchers were looking Tuesday for signs of missing man over the same 225 square mile area they've been searching since Friday.

Udall, an alternative energy advocate and environmentalist from Carbondale, Colo., is experienced backpacker who has hiked the Wind River many times over the past 30 years.

He signed in June 20 at at the popular Elkhart Park trailhead, a well-marked trail over rolling country that starts at 10,000 feet.

Udall is also the cousin of New Mexico Sen. Tom Udall and the son of the late 15-term congressman and Interior Secretary Morris Udall.
