HOUMA, La. (December 27, 2013) The three survivors of a shooting rampage in south Louisiana remained hospitalized Friday two in critical condition.
The rampage left four other people including the gunman dead.
Investigators in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes are working to learn the motive and piece together the sequence of events that led to the shooting Thursday, Brennan Matherne, a spokesman for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office, said.
Authorities say Ben Freeman, 38, was embroiled in a custody fight with his ex-wife.
He killed himself after attacking his current wife, his former in-laws and his former boss at a hospital from which he was fired.
Freeman's wife, former mother-in-law and the hospital administrator died.
Matherne says Parish Councilman Louis Phillip Gouaux and his daughter Andrea were in critical condition after surgery.
