NASHVILLE, Tenn. (October 3, 2012)—Staff Sgt. Hunter Perry, a Fort Knox, Ky., soldier accused of selling military body armor, says he legally bought and sold the ballistic plates and vests online and he says he didn't have any knowledge it was military property.

Perry faces a court-martial at the Army installation on Wednesday and Thursday on two specifications of selling military property and two specifications of larceny of military property.

Perry told The Associated Press in a phone interview that he never took the plates from any military supply.

He said he was buying and selling the ballistic plates online because he could make a profit.

Perry called the charges unfair and said military surplus stores and dealers online sell the same items.
