“Swamp People” Stars Escape Injury In 5-Vehicle Pileup

DODDRIDGE, Ark. (May 1, 2012)—Joe LaFont and Tommy Chauvin, two stars of the reality TV show "Swamp People," were unhurt after they were involved in a five-vehicle pileup near the Arkansas-Louisiana state line

Arkansas State Police said three other people suffered serious injuries in Monday's crash on U.S. 71, but said the injuries weren’t life threatening.

The two alligator hunters, known as Trapper Joe and Trigger Tommy, were not injured, but "Swamp People" T-shirts and other merchandise from the show spilled from their truck onto the highway.

Police say four cars were stopped for a flagman directing traffic around highway maintenance work when a fifth driver failed to stop.

His vehicle smashed into a tractor-trailer, causing the pileup.

The History Channel's "Swamp People" follows a group of Louisiana alligator hunters in the Atchafalaya Swamp.
