Teenage Boy Shot To Death Near President’s Chicago Home

CHICAGO (April 23, 2013)--A 15-year-old boy was found shot to death in a backyard about four blocks from President Barack Obama's home on Chicago’s South Side, police said.

Cornelius German was shot in the back.

He was found unresponsive at around 9:40 p.m. Monday.

Police Department spokesman John Mirabelli said German was a gang member, but a motive for the shooting has not yet been determined.

German was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after he was found.

Mr. Obama's home is just blocks away in the Kenwood neighborhood.

Mirabelli says no one is in custody as of Tuesday morning.
