PHILADELPHIA (April 7, 2014) A 2-year-old boy in Philadelphia got hold of a loaded gun and shot his 11-year-old sister, police said.
The bullet struck the girl's shoulder and then traveled to her chest, police said.
The girl died a short time after arriving at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Lt. John Walker said the children’s mother was home Saturday morning with four children were in a master bedroom.
Police say the shooting occurred after she left the room at about 10 a.m.
Police believe a male friend brought the gun to the house earlier that day.
Prosecutors are investigating to determine if any charges will be filed.
