LOS ANGELES (March 8, 2013)—A gunman who opened fires on officers in Los Angeles early Friday killed one person and himself after a standoff at a home in Watts where three small children were staying.
The two-hour standoff began at around 3 a.m. Friday as the result of a domestic dispute.
Deputy Chief Robert Green told KABC-TV that the gunman fatally wounded a man who was in a truck, and then fired at arriving police and holed up in a house.
Green says a SWAT team entered the home after about two hours and found the man dead and his wife lying nearby, mortally wounded.
The three children in the home were uninjured.
No officers were hurt.
