ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (November 22, 2013) Two of the five children who were trapped in a car that plunged into an icy suburban pond and sank have died, authorities say.
The Minneapolis State Patrol said Zenavia Rennie, 5, died Thursday night, and family attorney Rick Petry says Alarious Coleman-Guerrido, 7, also died Thursday night.
The driver, the mother of three of the children, made it out of the car unharmed after it sank in the St. Louis Park pond early Thursday.
Petry says the other children remain hospitalized in critical condition.
The mother, Marion Guerrido, was not hospitalized.
State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske says the first child was pulled from the water about 25 minutes after the car veered off a highway ramp and into the pond.
The last child who was removed had been in the water for 45 minutes.
