BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 11, 2014) A US Airways jet en route from Texas to North Carolina was diverted to Birmingham, Ala., after a medical emergency involving a pregnant passenger.
The Airbus A-320, en route from Houston to Charlotte, N.C., landed shortly before 7 a.m. Friday at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, after the woman, who is seven months pregnant, experienced shortness of breath and began passing out.
Paramedics were standing by as the plane landed and the woman was taken to a local hospital, airport spokeswoman Toni Bast confirmed.
The flight later departed Birmingham and resumed its trip.
