ROME (November 1, 2012)--A U.S. student at an American university in Rome was stabbed repeatedly by another student as he slept after a night of Halloween partying at a club and was hospitalized in serious condition.
Police say the alleged assailant, an American-born Italian citizen, was arrested early Thursday in a Rome apartment and will likely face a court appearance on Friday.
The motive wasn't clear.
Police did not immediately release the wounded student's name.
San Giovanni hospital, where he was taken, declined to give details about his condition.
Both men attend John Cabot University in Rome, according to police.
University officials didn't return calls for comment.
