COLUMBUS, Ohio (August 6, 2012)--Police say two 13-year-old boys stole a parent's BMW this weekend in Ohio and drove it hundreds of miles to Kansas City, Mo., where they were found sleeping in the car in an alley.

Kansas City police say officers investigating a suspicious vehicle matching the description of the stolen BMW found the runaways from Columbus and took them into custody Monday.

Capt. Steve Young said police in Missouri knew the boys might pass through the area because of information posted on Facebook.

One of the boys’ mothers said her son had wanted to go to California and she believes that’s where they were headed.

Police say the boys were turned over to the Jackson County Family Court and arrangements were being made for them to return to Ohio.
