CORPUS CHRISTI (March 11, 2013)--Texas State Aquarium officials are looking for a bird that evidently flew the coop.
Piper, a trumpeter hornbill, was last spotted Saturday flying around the Port of Corpus Christi.
The female bird is recognizable by its disproportionately large beak, with a gray, hornlike projection on top.
Trumpeter hornbills are common in warm, coastal forests in southern Africa, said aquarium spokesman Richard Glover.
