PORTLAND, Maine (February 2, 2014) Saco River Auction Co. in Biddeford, Maine, which earlier sold a 148-year-old baseball card, is now preparing to sell even older baseball memorabilia that features a Union team decimated by a Civil War battle.
The company says it has a scorecard, four tickets and three concession passes from an 1862 game featuring the Washington Nationals and 71st Regiment of the New York Militia.
The items are up for auction Feb. 19.
Troy Thibodeau said the militia won the game in 1861, but lost the rematch the following year after several team members were killed in the Battle of Bull Run.
Collectors are interested in the memorabilia from the national pastime.
Last year, a collector from Newburyport, Mass., paid $92,000 for the 1865 baseball card.
