Cop Patrols City Streets In Vintage Plymouth Cruiser

SEATTLE (April 25, 2013)—Seattle police Officer Jim Ritter patrols in a fully restored 1970 Plymouth Satellite cruiser, which is part of the Seattle Metropolitan Police Museum, a non-profit that Ritter founded in 1997.

It's one of 14 vintage police vehicles restored by volunteers.

The idea was to use the old cruiser in parades and other special events, but the car attracted so much attention that Ritter is using it as his everyday ride in community outreach efforts.

There's one concession to modern technology in the vintage patrol car--it has an up-to-date radio.

But everything else is period, including the bumpy ride and lack of air conditioning.
