ALMENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (October 3, 2012)--Deputies captured a runaway suspect as he tried to hide in a backyard hot tub in southwestern Michigan after a more than 100 mile per hour chase, authorities said.
The Van Buren County, Mich., Sheriff's Department said one of its deputies stopped a pickup truck early Wednesday for a defective plate, but the driver took off.
The department said the driver lost control of the pickup, which overturned in Almena Township, west of Kalamazoo.
The driver ran.
The department said a Kalamazoo police dog tracked the man to the covered hot tub in which he was hiding.
The 28-year-old man was arrested on charges that included fleeing police, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license and operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs.
